What Are Christian Mom Blogs?

For those of you who are new to blogs and somehow happened on this post, Christian mom blogs are blogs that fall within the motherhood niche.

However, they are geared specifically toward Christian moms.

Most of what you find on a typical mom blog, are things related to parenting, motherhood, kids, and babies.

On Christian mom blogs you may find these same topics, but also things related to bible studies, bible verses, Christian moms, homeschooling, faith, inspiration, and other Christian mommy topics.

Why You Should Start a Christian Mom Blog

To share your faith

This one should come as no surprise, but yes, sharing your faith with other Christian moms should be a definite incentive for starting your blog.

There are hundreds of moms who are looking for answers to their problems and they would prefer to get it from a Christian perspective

So whether it’s about finances, parenting, business, homeschooling, or working from home, moms need encouragement, and what better way to get it than from someone who’s experienced it.

Create a community

In some cases, the Christian mom blogging community has its own beliefs, ideas, and ways of living.

By creating a Christian mom blog, you can open up a safe haven for discussion on topics of relevance.

You can share ideas with other moms, get feedback and have a community of like-minded people.

Choose your own schedule

Believe it or not, blogging allows you to choose your own schedule. With a blog, you can work whenever you want.

If you homeschool as I do, for example, working throughout the entire day will not be an option.

You can choose instead to work very early in the morning before the kids are awake or at night when they’re asleep.

Pretty convenient huh?

Earn an income

The ultimate dream for most people is being able to make money on their own terms.

A blog allows you to do that.

Whether you earn a part-time or full-time income from your blog, the whole idea is making a living the way you want to.

If you choose to work on your blog at home or on while on your family vacation, you have that choice.

All you need is your trusty sidekick (a good laptop) and internet service and you can blog away.

It’s one of the only jobs that allow you to make passive income.

So, if you feel like not blogging for a while, you can still make money from a post you wrote last year!

Do Chrisitian Bloggers Make Money?

Yes, they do!

Making money on your blog can depend on a number of factors and includes the niche you have chosen.

A blog niche is basically the central topic that your blog posts and blog are all about.

Popular blog niches include:

  • Parenting
  • Mommy blogs
  • Finance
  • Gardening
  • Fashion

You catch the drift.

A Christian blogger might make more or less depending on the sub-niche it has chosen.

For example, a Christian stay at home mom blog might make more money than a Christian gardening blog.

The former may get more chances for endorsements and other deals.

One Christian blogger of note is Anh Luu from A Girl and the Word. Her blog focuses on faith, travel, lifestyle, and decor.

She was able to make $10,000 in a month which is a pretty hefty amount if you ask me.

Another Christian blogger, Justine, earns about $20,000 from her blog each month.

She says she was able to monetize her blog after getting huge amounts of traffic from Pinterest.

So Should You Start a Christian Blog of Your Own?

It all depends.

A blog may not be the best option if you:

  • Have little patience
  • Absolutely detest writing
  • Don’t like learning new things
  • Want results right away
  • Hate networking

A blog, especially a new one, requires lots of work, and if you can’t adjust to being in it for the long haul, then blogging might not be for you.

When you’ve just started a blog, you will need to nurture it like a newborn baby.

That means writing and updating your posts, marketing your blog online, staying in touch with your readers, and keeping up with current trends.

However, it’s all a learning process, I learned it all by asking for help from other bloggers, reading and researching, and best of all taking online courses.

How Christian Mom Blogs Make Money

1. Ad Revenue

This is by far one of the more popular ways that blogs in general monetize their content.

It’s also probably the easiest to get started with.

The one downside to displaying ads is that they can be really intrusive, so it’s not recommended you add them until you’ve gained quite a bit of traffic and a loyal fan base.

When you’ve just started your blog, you may not see the amount of traffic necessary for you to do ad placements.

That’s because if your traffic is low, you won’t make that much.

In order to take advantage of advertising, you really need to get traffic.

How to get traffic to my blog?

  1. SEO

The best recommendation I can give you for gaining traffic is by implementing SEO.

This will involve:

  • Writing high-quality content
  • Using relevant keywords
  • Gaining backlinks
  • Optimizing your site speed

These factors along with many others will affect how your blog is ranked in Google, and in turn, how much traffic you’ll get.

Right now I’m using Keysearch, which is an awesome and affordable SEO tool that helps me rank for long-tail keywords and keep an eye on the competition.

I highly recommend Keysearch for serious bloggers who want to earn money blogging.

2. Pinterest

Another way to get quality traffic to your blog is through Pinterest.

Pinterest works as a visual search engine of sorts and you can create gorgeous pins that will wow your audience.

Once someone searches on Pinterest and clicks on your pin, they will be sent to your blog.

From there, you can start getting traffic from a specific audience and that will count toward your blog traffic.

Once you’ve started getting enough traffic, then you can start applying to premium ad networks.

A few popular ones are:

  • Google Adsense
  • Mediavine
  • Media.net
  • Monumetric
  • AdThrive
  • Ezoic
  • Infolinks

When it comes to ads, you can do it on your own or have the ad company manage them.

There is usually some type of minimum page view requirement in order to join these ad networks.

Some bloggers start off using Google Adsense, but once they can get enough page views, they will switch to better-paying networks such as Mediavine or Monumetric.

2. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is essentially promoting products and services from other businesses on your blog.

You can sign up with affiliate networks or affiliate programs that show you products that you can promote on your blog.

Once you sign up for that affiliate program, you can place a link in your blog posts or somewhere on your blog.

Whenever someone clicks on the affiliate link and buys the product, you then earn a commission.

This is something that you can do, even with a Christian mom blog.

But first, you will need to find the right affiliates to promote.

There are many Christian-based companies that provide products or help solve various problems for people.

It could be books, home decor, courses, clothes, kids’ supplies, and Christian entertainment.

I would recommend searching for products and services on affiliate networks like:

The amount of money you make will depend on the affiliate program who will set a certain percentage for the commission you make.

For example, an affiliate company can set a 40% commission for a product that costs $200.

Many affiliate companies have links that will remain active even days after the reader clicks on the link.

The great thing about affiliate marketing is that it’s mostly a passive income stream.

Once you add links to your blog posts, they will stay there for as long as the affiliate product is active.

When you share your affiliate links, they are geared toward helping your reader in some way.

If you are promoting a woman’s prayer journal on your blog, for example, that product is meant to strengthen your reader’s faith in God or help with some type of struggle.

To make this work, you could write a blog post entitled, ‘5 ways women can have better prayer lives’.

Using the prayer journal could be one way to do this.

In this way, you’re helping your reader and giving them inspiration in a meaningful way and you can earn a commission from doing this.

Here are some other affiliate programs for new bloggers that you can check out.

3. Sponsored Content

Another popular way to earn money from your blog is by writing sponsored content.

Once you’ve developed the art of marketing on your blog (promoting products) you can write sponsored content from time to time.

Sponsored content is writing a dedicated post for brands or a sponsor to give them more exposure.

You are paid a one-off fee for this engagement and it can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Companies are now using the popularity of influencers and bloggers to bring their products to the forefront.

When you think about it, wouldn’t it entice you a lot more to buy a product if your favorite blogger promoted it rather than just seeing it in a store?

Exactly!

This is why many companies are willing to pay big bucks for bloggers to promote their product on a website where thousands of eyes will see it.

That alone can result in a high amount of sales for that company. So sponsored content is very popular and you can take advantage of it on your own blog.

There are blog networks that provide sponsored posts such as:

While writing sponsored content is a great way to earn money with your blog, I don’t recommend writing them all the time.

It may come off as a bit ‘salsey’ and your readers could get turned off. Write articles for brands that you truly love and that can really benefit your audience, otherwise, it comes off as a money-making scheme.

4. Sell Your Own Products

What better way to make money from your Christian mom blog than by selling a product that you created!

This can be of real value to your audience, especially if you know what they’re looking for.

Benefits of selling your own products

  • You will earn all the profits
  • Creating an affiliate program for it
  • Complete control of the price

As a Christian blogger, you have the chance to sell numerous types of products to your audience.

Depending on what your niche is, the product types will vary.

You can sell both physical or digital products on your blog as well.

Digital products could be the best option for most Christian bloggers because the product can be created by the blogger and sold at any time.

The blogger will also own the product and get 100% of the profits!

Christian bloggers can make money selling digital products such as:

  • Planners
  • Journals
  • Bible Verse Cards
  • Prayer trackers
  • Bible Studies
  • E-books
  • Checklists
  • Devotionals

There are hundreds of other products out there that are really profitable, and you can get creative with what you sell.

Some Christian bloggers might find that it’s better to sell physical products like T-Shirts, mugs, wall art, and merchandise with Christian inspirational quotes on them.

These types of products really sell like hotcakes.

All in all, you should create products that are geared toward your specific audience and make their lives much easier.

5. Create Courses

Course creation is another way for Christian bloggers to earn an income from their blogs.

The course can be on just about anything that would be useful to a Christian audience.

Courses could focus on subjects like:

  • How to start a Christian based business
  • How to study the bible in one year
  • Understanding God and His plan for your life
  • Ways to witness and reach people

So basically, the course could help Christians in areas like business, finance, health, lifestyle, or bible studies.

What could make it even more lucrative is if you already have a great relationship with your audience.

If you have been genuine with them in your interactions and have motivated them from the start, offering a course could become a great passive income idea.

To get started with a course, you will need a platform to showcase it.

Some popular course creation platforms are:

These platforms make it a breeze to formulate your course ideas, points, and structure.

Once you have created your course and it’s ready for your audience, you can start introducing it in your blog posts or to your email list.

It’s best not to sound too promotional with it, but use it as a way to show them how a course would be a huge benefit to them.

6. Coaching

This might be one of the best ways to make money with a blog.

As a coach, you can offer advice to other moms who are struggling with a problem.

Using your knowledge as someone experienced in the faith, you could set up coaching sessions on your blog for people who really need it.

You could offer services like:

  • Marriage Counselling
  • Courtship Advice
  • Job Coaching
  • Life Coaching
  • Mentorship

Again, the type of service you provide may depend on your niche, so this is something you will have to brainstorm.

When it comes to your payment, this will be totally up to you as to how much money you will charge clients.

I am aware that more well-known figures can charge in the thousands, and this can be expected as they are well known.

However, if you are a new Christian blogger, you won’t want to charge a hefty fee, but as you grow your blog, you definitely can increase the price for your coaching sessions.

One way to market your services in the initial stages is by offering free one-on-one coaching services in relevant Facebook groups or on your social media channels.

7. Social Media Channels

Although not everyone knows this, you can also monetize through your social media channels.

If you have a high amount of traffic to your blog, you can refer your readers to your social media channels like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for exclusive content.

There are companies that will pay you to place pictures on your social media.

You can get paid by mentioning sponsored content, selling affiliate products, and selling a digital product.

Once your audience is really dedicated to your blog, they would be more interested in the other services you promote, so you can make additional money here.

Additional Ways to Make Money as a Christian Blogger

  1. Open an e-commerce store
  2. Speaking engagements
  3. Products reviews
  4. Flipping blogs
  5. Selling Photography
  6. Private blog Ads

So as you can see, there are many ways to make money with a Christian blog.

When you have just started your blog, you can choose to start with one income stream and then open up multiple streams as you get more experienced.

That’s no problem at all my friend! I’ll give you a quick rundown of how to start your very own Christian mom blog.

How to Start a Christian Mom Blog

Step One: Sign up with Bluehost

A host is basically a server that will put your website online. It’s basically like the house that your blog lives in.

A self-hosted site is the one you want if you want to control your blog and turn it into a business.

I chose Bluehost for my hosting platform and they have been nothing but great.

They have 24/7 customer service and awesome features.

You can also get started with them for as little as $3.95 per month!

Of course, you pay this fee for the year or for up to 3 years.

Bluehost then allows you to choose your domain name and then get started.

Step Two: Choose a theme

You want your blog to be really inviting. It has to be attractive in order for customers to stay on your blog or want to come back.

That’s where your blog’s theme comes in.

You have the option to choose free themes or premium themes for your blog.

Any one will work just fine.

It just depends on what you’re looking for.

Premium themes tend to have more customization options to make your blog have a better look and feel.

I chose a feminine theme for my blog because I cater to a female audience and moms specifically.

You can find premium themes on Creative Market where I purchased mine, or you can use Elegant Themes or Thrive Themes for more options.

Step Three: Choose a niche or audience

So you’re a Christian blogger and you’ll be focusing on faith-based content.

But, you will still need to niche down and be specific.

Who will you be writing to?

How are you going to help them?

These are the questions you will have to ask yourself in order to decide on a blog niche and audience.

Some popular Christian blog niches are:

  • Christian Lifestyle
  • Christian marriage and dating
  • Parenting
  • Christian mom life
  • Christian working mom
  • Christian single mom
  • Christian adoption
  • Christian fashion

These are general Christian niches and you may need to niche down into a sub-niche to find a targeted audience.

Step four: Start writing what you love

This is essentially the foundation of your blog. Writing your blog posts will involve plenty of brainstorming, good SEO, and creativity to maintain a loyal audience.

And when you do launch your blog, I recommend having at least 5-10 written and posted.

Even though Google takes some time before ranking your blog, it’s a good idea to have material ready before launching it.

Your posts should also be thorough, valuable, and SEO friendly. You will need to solve the problems of your reader and also let Google know that your content is good.

Step five: Promote your blog

As soon as you have your posts are up and your blog has been launched, it’s time to start sharing your content.

First, think about your target audience and what type of channels they use.

Is it Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or all combined?

Do some research and start sending out social media posts for people to check out your blog.

I use Canva to create all my posts and it can even schedule posts on social media.

Try Canva Pro free for 30 days and check out the cool features!
