Can you really find flexible side jobs for stay-at-home moms that pay well

The answer is a resounding YES!

To be honest, this was something I wrestled with when I first left my job as an Insurance Agent.

I was now a stay-at-home mom for the very first time, and I was doubting that there were any jobs out there for me to make money from.

Now, I was on a quest to find the best work-from-home job online so that I didn’t have to sacrifice the quality time I wanted to spend with my family.

I wanted to find a real job and not some position where I was on the phone all day dealing with customer queries.

It was after some deep searching that I discovered that there were tons of legitimate online jobs for moms that I could do without feeling like I wanted to pull my hair out!

If you have young children, sometimes a full workday just doesn’t help you to get as much family time as you would like. Fortunately, there has been an increase in flexible at-home jobs that allow you more freedom to do what you love in life.

You can find some of the best jobs for stay at home moms with no experience required easily on job boards like FlexJobs or Remote Co. Even though FlexJobs is a premium service, I’ve personally used it and it was well worth it!

I truly believe that stay-at-home moms can take charge of their finances and find legitimate stay-at-home jobs to supplement their income. If you want to know a few low cost side hustles for stay at home moms, then continue reading.

But first, what are the benefits for moms who decide to work from home?

Benefits of Side Hustles for Stay At Home Moms

No Annoying Commutes

This was absolutely my favorite thing about leaving my 9-5.

Now, I just love that feeling of waking up in the morning without hurrying to work.

Although I still do have to rush to make breakfast for my hungry family.

What I do now is head to my computer, start writing, and collect my paycheck!

It’s so nice to know that I can sit in the comfort of my own home and work at my own pace.

There’s no reason you can’t do this too!

More Time with Family

As moms, some of our best times are those spent with our children.

Instead of worrying about a deadline I have to make at work, I can settle down and enjoy playing legos with my son.

If I can, I try to wrestle my husband into the lego building process as well.

As a stay-at-home mom, you could try a side hustle or stay-at-home job to connect more with your family.

Better Work-Life Balance

Stay at home jobs create a better opportunity to balance your time at home.

Especially if you do freelance writing as I’ve done, you can set your own schedule and basically work whenever you want. That’s what I call freedom!

As you can see, stay-at-home jobs allow moms to spend more time at home with their families and have more freedom and flexibility.

So I say, why wait?

Check out this list of 20 side jobs for stay-at-home moms that will allow you to earn some money and choose your own hours!

Flexible Side Jobs for Stay-At-Home Moms

1. Become a Writer

Do you enjoy writing?

If this is your thing, you can make a lot of money with this skill.

Gone are the days when only authors could publish a book and make money.

Moms can make a legitimate income from writing in a variety of ways.

You could get started with ghostwriting, which means writing material like books or blog posts that are published under another person’s name.

Creating content for greeting cards is another fun and easy way to make money especially if you have a creative mind.

Overall, writing is an awesome work-from-home opportunity that doesn’t require much investment, if at all!

I think it’s one of the best side gigs for stay at home moms because the earning potential is great. According to Salary.com, you can expect to make around $62, 086 each year doing freelance writing!

To make sure your writing is always up to par, you can hire a proofreader on Fiverr to review your work or you can use Grammarly like I do.

I use it for every single blog post I write, and it helps me immensely!

2. Start a Blog

Blogging is one of the best side hustles for stay-at-home moms because of just how much flexibility it gives you!

Aly from What Moms Love runs a successful parenting blog that makes 30,000 a month.

She provides a lot of helpful tips and tricks for busy moms.

When I was first introduced to the idea of blogging, I was skeptical.

But then I saw how much bloggers were making online and thought it would be an ideal mom job.

So far, I haven’t regretted it. Even though starting a profitable blog is by no means easy, it’s definitely rewarding.

Blogging is also great because you earn passive income. This makes it an ideal side business for stay at home moms to earn money even when they’re not actively doing work.

You can make money through affiliate links or from people clicking or viewing your ads.

I’ve found that being consistent and working hard on your blog is the best way to see results.

A blog will not earn you money overnight, but it’s a great work-from-home opportunity that you shouldn’t miss!

3. Bookkeeping

Did you know that stay-at-home moms can do Bookkeeping with little or no experience at all?

It’s a plus if you’re good with numbers and finance. If you have no experience, feel free to check out this (free) course that can give you a taste of the whole process. I recommend this as a good job for stay-at-home moms because it offers you the flexibility to work when YOU want to.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bookkeepers can make upwards of $40,000 a year.

Not only that, you can actually make more based on your experience, or even level of education.

If you’re experienced and you’re looking to apply for a Bookkeepers job now, you can check out the following websites:

4. Transcription

I like to look at this one as more of a working mom side hustle.

Transcription jobs are all the rage right now, because companies, students, and businesses want their meetings or projects to be converted into the written word.

This is a fantastic work-from-home job for moms because it’s simple and has a quick learning curve.

It does help however if you have a faster typing speed and if you pick up on grammar errors right away.  Two of the highest-paying transcription companies you can apply to are Rev and GoTranscript.

Check them out and start earning now!

Although this is more of a part-time job, you can still make a decent amount of money from it.

5. Proofreading

Do you spot grammar errors from a mile away? Are you a lover of words, books, and reading?

Just one more question. Do you also have a GoodReads account? (That last one was a joke)

But really though, if you’re good with correcting grammar errors, then proofreading may be the job for you. Proofreaders correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors and get paid for just that!

This is one of the best side jobs for stay at home moms because it requires no prior experience and allows for a flexible schedule.

6. Teach English Online

This was one of the first online jobs I tried out for when I was looking for a bit of flexibility.

It’s pretty convenient to hop onto your laptop and start teaching without thinking about heading out on the regular commute.

I think it’s one of the easiest side hustles for moms who have homeschooled or worked in the education system.

You have a greater probability of landing this freelance mom job if you love kids, have experience teaching, and have earned a Bachelor’s Degree or TEFL certification.

Some companies only accept you with these credentials.

Some great places are:

With that said, there are a few you will still take applicants without a bachelor’s Degree which include:

7. Remote/Virtual Receptionist

  • Make calls – CHECK
  • Take calls – CHECK
  •  Transfer calls – CHECK
  • Scarf down a donut with relish because no one’s watching you – CHECK

These are just a few of the many and varied things that a Virtual Receptionist does.

Maybe not the last one though ????

With a virtual receptionist job, you’ll be working behind the scenes to handle clients for a small or large business and other administrative tasks that come along.

However, you’ll be working from home, hence the word ‘virtual’.

I do think that stay-at-home moms with small children can do this, but I recommend a home office space to make it a smoother process.

This is especially the case if you’ll be taking video or conference calls. You just don’t want the whole office to hear the kids bickering over who gets to eat seconds.

If you’re ready to snag a job right now, you can find virtual assistant jobs for moms on FlexJobs.

8. Flipping Blogs

Did you know that flipping blogs is a thing? Yeah, and it’s a way to make money from home with a little investment.

How it works is that you purchase a domain, set up hosting, build your authority, traffic, and so on.

Then you write content, market it, and all that good stuff.

How you make a profit though, is by selling the blog at a much higher price than what you bought it for.

While this part-time job does take time, it can be very rewarding. You can start off as a beginner flipping one blog and then do multiple blogs as you get more advanced. While it’s not a quick cash opportunity, it does allow you to start a lucrative money-making business from home.

This course gives you all the juicy deets on how to flip blogs and make money!
